I still adore Mega Man 6 to this day. Lovely background visuals, some of the best tunes in the series, tight gameplay and overall a food note to end its 8bit run on. As for Chip 'n Dale 2, it's one of the three remaining NES grails I've vowed to get someday.

Much as the Mega Man games were far too similar, I did enjoy how in VI some stages had multiple paths to the end, and the background visuals were pretty.

It is a testament to how good of a developer Visual Concepts are. They took on the juggernaut of EA and won in my opinion by the end of it's lifecycle.

When NFL 2k5 came out it was $20. Madden 05 was $50. Madden was forced to lower the price of Madden 05 to $30. This angered the NFL who felt NFL 2k5's low price point cheapened the NFL brand as a whole. The NFL shortly after gave exclusive rights to EA for simulation NFL games. Annnnnd.... Madden has fallen off a cliff since then 😂😂😂

Not big into 2 player co-op! But beat em ups are my favorite games! I'm happy to have DD and DD2 and the Super DD on my PS4 arcade archives!

Wario's Woods had such a somber and bitter sweet feeling to it, like it was the end credits of the entire NES experience.

Love these video's! That said, I do feel like this one is a little too much hindsight. It's definitely good, it would've sent sega and nintendo packing back to Japan by '95, but it feels a bit too back to the future sports almanac to me. Would they reasonably have thought of the risky expensive sports endorsments and getting snk? Not releasing the cd unit so soon however sounds more realistic to me, for example. Anyways still enjoyed, just my thoughts.

This is what technically killed the DC or put the first knife into its own chest. Because EA wanted to make sports game for it but wanted exclusive rights to sports games only and Sega decided to it themselves and it didn't do well at all

@17:53 one more important thing to note about The Lion King on NES? The game abruptly ends after the Hakuna Matata level (i.e. its missing the entire 2nd half of the game with adult Simba). Even the terrible GB version, which is basically the NES game but somehow less bad, had levels with adult Simba, but not on NES. Truly baffling.

The NES was the best 8 bit console by far, in terms of game library. In terms of power, it has to be the PC Engine.

Lion King on NES is actually a quick and dirty port of its Game Boy release, with about half of the game missing. It cuts off after the Hakuna Matata level and ends there. Even funnier, there was a bootleg NES release of the game by Super Game, and it's miles better than the official NES release

Pro tip: if you own any of these games, hang on to them -so you can sell them when it’s time to pay for your kid’s college

NES is still my favorite console after more than 35 years since I first got one for Christmas in '89 (Genesis eventually became my #2 later in life). Bonk on the NES really is a well done port, though the difficulty is a bit on the easy side.

I grew up playing TMNT tournament fighters on the NES at my cousin's place. The soundtrack is CLASSIC and one of my favorites on the system. Shredder and Casey Jones are super OP FYI.

Me and my dad were always trying to beat it. I’ll never forget my dad eventually getting to the very last level. Really good memories right there

The toys and environment being "old timey" is the basic visual concept of the game, not just that the designers were a bit old fashioned...they knew the aesthetic they were going for.

Terrible take. I had it the launch year when I was 12, and it was terrible then. The game nearly put me off games entirely. Bad then, bad now. No nostalgia for me.

The music of Golvellius sounds a lot like Guardian Legend on NES. Love that soundtrack!

What really changed my mind on classic NES Mega Man from being shining examples of loving game design to assembly line mediocrity was the first time I saw a TAS video that played MM3, 4, 5, and 6 simultaneously with the same inputs. Yes, I know that tool-assisted speedruns are very handcrafted and intentionally manipulate the games to do certain things, but at the same time it really shows how after 3 they just started phoning it in.

Check out the GG crash dummies, pretty nutty but I rated it growing up

The original mega man was hard, sure, but the others? I've blasted through them all while near black out wasted using only the buster (except the games that certain bosses only have weapon weaknesses.)

I finished this game yesterday (On normal) I used to own it on my Saturn ages ago and didn't hate it. I just never beat the game because back then knowing how the game worked was pretty much a mystery until you played it enough to sort of know what was going on. There was nothing like it at the time good or bad. Bucket list game for me for sure. Oh yeah... the music was actually pretty good honestly.
